Zealous preaching

i've been away from all things jobo for years.

i have little interest in them...perhaps some slight interest due to being raised in the corporation.. in my day, the preaching work was hammered into us relentlessly.

we felt obligated to go door knocking as much as possible.

if it wasnt for me being a member on here--i would have thought the cult had packed up :

the nearest kingdom hall---a very smart looking property--i think one of the first quick builds in the UK, is now a vets practice ( an animal hospital.)

i'm retired and home a lot--i havent been called on for ages--i never see any dubs slowly creeping about with briefcase in hand wearing a suit and tie.

i never get tracts or magazines through my letter box.

what it really wants now is a major change in its teaching--something that will send them packing in large numbers. say---armageddon is now just a figurative notion--or something that takes place invisibly--like a spirit battle between god and the devil. that should do it.

Does the GB/WT now ,ever talk about 6,000 years of human history ?

in c.t.russell`s time it was supposed to have ended in the late 1880`s ,when jesus christ was supposed to have returned in 1874 ,and armageddon was to have happened in 1914 according to wt publications back then .. around about 1968/9 they amended that time frame to the year 1975 as the end of 6000 years of human history ,and they said in their publications that it would be an appropriate time for christ jesus to begin his 1000 year rule over the earth.. which would align with wt teaching that a creative day was 7,000 years long.. i think the book was "life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god " wtb&ts .

my question is : do they still talk about 6,000 of human history ?.

do they still talk about 7,000 years as a creative day ?

yep---thats exactly what we were taught back in the 60's.

thats how "we" ( always that exclusive WE ) just knew a creative day was 7000 years long. All rooted on a fairy story coupled to a false prophecy that failed totally.

i was totally out of the cult--and had zero contact with it--from 1981 till about 10 years ago when i discovered the online world of ex jw's. so i had no idea the 7000 year thing had gradually disappeared. i somehow worked out that armageddon hadnt happened..and we are not yet in the brave new world. i wonder have many changes and new lights will happen in what time i have left.

yes--this is what really got me thinking for myself in my late teens--in the 1960's--the 7000 year creative day. i remember asking the DO Ron Drage about during a lunch time at a circuit assembly. he just fobbed me off saying it was all in the societies publications.

7000 years eh--from the creation of mythical mud man and woman to the end of the milennial reign of christ the king in his kingdom. too bad if it turned out to be 70,000 years--or 70 million. but then--if gullible people really want to believe something badly enough.--its easy enough to invent a plan to fit the bill.

6000 years from the fantasy creation in a biblical fairy story--to when the system would end--with the battle of armageddon as prophecied by a senile old man. only--it didnt. therefore no one has been resurrected into a brave new world. millions living have died---together with their hopes and dreams. and some 8 million or so people still cling to this crap.
